Chennai, Nov 16 (NationPress) The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is set to conduct a statewide protest this Sunday, expressing strong discontent regarding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, the party is preparing for a significant mobilization throughout Tamil Nadu, with demonstrations scheduled at all district headquarters.

Senior party officials have instructed district secretaries and local leaders to coordinate protests starting at 11 a.m. on the designated day.

Key state office-bearers are anticipated to spearhead the protests in major districts, while zonal and union-level representatives will manage local mobilization and ensure robust participation.

According to party sources, TVK's foremost concern is that the SIR process, currently being executed by the Election Commission of India, may have serious consequences for voter inclusivity and transparency.

Leadership has raised alarms that numerous eligible voters could encounter procedural obstacles or risk removal due to potential flaws in the door-to-door verification.

Insiders indicate that the protest is framed not merely as a political demonstration but as a public-awareness initiative aimed at spotlighting what the party perceives as possible dangers in the revision process.

“The directive to our cadre is unequivocal — this is about safeguarding the democratic right to vote. Every district unit is tasked with engaging the public, distributing informational leaflets, and clarifying how the SIR may impact ordinary voters,” stated a senior functionary.

The party has also tasked its district teams with documenting local grievances related to the ongoing revision, including issues concerning Booth-Level Officers (BLOs), inaccuracies in draft rolls, and reports of missing names.

These insights, according to TVK sources, will be compiled and presented as an official representation to the Chief Electoral Officer post-protests.
