Kolkata, Nov 16 (NationPress) The office of West Bengal Governor, C.B. Ananda Bose, is contemplating reaching out to the Lok Sabha Secretariat to seek action against Kalyan Banerjee following his contentious remarks alleging that arms were distributed from the Raj Bhavan premises in Kolkata, according to sources on Sunday.
Additionally, the Governor's office is evaluating other potential legal measures against the four-time Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member for his unfounded and provocative comments made to reporters on Saturday afternoon, an insider from Raj Bhavan revealed.
The Raj Bhavan remained accessible since Sunday morning for Banerjee, civil society members, and journalists to inspect and verify any arms and ammunition purportedly stored within the Governor’s House grounds.
The Governor's office posed a critical question: given that the Kolkata Police are responsible for guarding Raj Bhavan, how could arms and ammunition be kept within its confines? Furthermore, the Raj Bhavan has called for an immediate investigation into the issue, as Banerjee’s claims indicate a potential breach of the Governor's security, who is entitled to “Z plus” category security.
The Raj Bhavan has also demanded that Banerjee offer an unconditional apology if his public allegations prove to be false.
“The Governor’s security officers recommended that he vacate Raj Bhavan for a safer location until the investigation into the alleged illegal arms and ammunition at Raj Bhavan is concluded. However, the Governor insisted, 'I will remain in Raj Bhavan, regardless of the circumstances,'” stated a source.
On Saturday, Banerjee also made a provocative statement regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi, connecting him to the recent car explosion in New Delhi that resulted in 12 fatalities.
During his address to reporters, Banerjee asserted that the explosion was a planned act on the eve of the second phase of the Bihar Assembly polls, aimed at generating a sympathy wave in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), directly implicating the Prime Minister as the mastermind behind this conspiracy.
