Kolkata, Nov 17 (NationPress) West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose has called upon the bomb squad from the Kolkata Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to conduct comprehensive search operations at Raj Bhavan in Central Kolkata. This decision comes in light of serious claims made by a Trinamool Congress MP, who alleged that arms and ammunition are being distributed from the Governor's residence to individuals associated with the BJP.
The Governor's office announced that these joint operations will be broadcasted live, ensuring transparency during the search.
As per the statement released on Monday afternoon, the Honourable Governor is returning to Kolkata earlier than planned to oversee these operations.
“Under the direction of the Honourable Governor, a thorough Joint Combing Operation will take place throughout the Raj Bhavan complex,” the statement read. This operation will include participation from the Kolkata Police, Raj Bhavan Police, CRPF Bomb Squad, and a Dog Squad.
The disaster management and civil defence departments will also be involved in these search and combing operations.
The entire operation will be broadcasted live, with media representatives and members of civil society present during the process,” the Governor's office noted.
Previously, the Governor's office instructed the Kolkata Police to initiate an investigation into the allegations made by Kalyan Banerjee by filing a First Information Report (FIR).
The Governor's office warned that failure to comply with the directive to register an FIR would result in actions taken under the Governor's powers.
During a media interaction on Saturday, Kalyan Banerjee accused the Raj Bhavan of harboring “criminals” linked to the BJP.
He asserted that the Governor must cease providing refuge to these criminals and distributing weapons to harm Trinamool Congress members.
“As long as you remain an incompetent Governor, a servant of the BJP, nothing good will ever come to West Bengal,” Kalyan Banerjee stated on Saturday.
