Raipur, March 7 (NationPress) Two individuals tragically passed away after ingesting local liquor in Bhathli village within the Nawagarh police station jurisdiction in Janjgir Champa district, Chhattisgarh.

Pankaj Chandra, the Additional Superintendent of Police, confirmed the fatalities, noting that the liquor was obtained through an intermediary.

“We are currently awaiting the post-mortem and forensic reports to identify the source of the liquor and eliminate any potential foul play. It’s possible that an existing feud may have led the liquor supplier to deceive both victims,” he stated.

The incident unfolded on an otherwise ordinary evening when the victims consumed the local liquor.

According to Grahan, a relative of Rohit, the young man had returned home after a day of work and then went out for a bike ride. Within just 15 minutes, Grahan received a call informing him that Rohit’s condition had suddenly declined.

Grahan, along with the police, reported that a man named Ram Gopal had provided the liquor to both Sita Ram and Rohit.

“Another individual supplied the liquor to Ram Gopal. Consequently, the police are conducting a thorough investigation to trace the origin of the liquor,” the officer added.

Shortly after consuming the liquor on Thursday, froth began to emerge from their mouths, indicating their critical state.

Both victims were initially taken to the Nawagarh Community Health Center. However, their conditions deteriorated, leading to their urgent transfer to the district hospital in Janjgir, where they were pronounced dead.

The families of the deceased are now calling for a comprehensive investigation into the incident and strict action against those responsible.

A similar occurrence took place two years ago in the villages of Rokda and Amoda within the district, where fatalities were connected to alcohol consumption. The police have responded promptly by filing a case and launching an investigation.
