Two Lives Lost Due to Suspected Hooch Consumption in Begusarai District, Bihar

Patna, Dec 11 (NationPress) Two individuals succumbed after allegedly consuming suspected hooch in Bihar's Begusarai district.
The victims were recognized as Chunchun Prasad Singh, a local medical practitioner residing in Ward-8, Maida Shahpur within the Cheria Bariyarpur police station jurisdiction, and a 50-year-old compounder named Hareram Tanti.
Both were reported to have ingested the liquor on Tuesday night, which their relatives claimed led to their demise.
This occurrence has incited a wave of concern throughout the district.
While Singh's autopsy is pending, the district administration has proceeded with Tanti's post-mortem under the oversight of a specialized team from the District Health Department.
Begusarai Civil Surgeon Pramod Kumar Singh stated: “Previously, Tanti had received treatment at Sadar Hospital and had partially lost his eyesight. Unfortunately, he passed away this time.”
“Family members confirmed Tanti's history of alcohol consumption. It appears he died as a result of drinking liquor. However, the post-mortem report is still awaited,” the civil surgeon added.
Begusarai SP Manish mentioned that both individuals fell ill under questionable circumstances.
“We are interrogating the family members to collect further details. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain the precise cause of death,” Manish stated.
The district administration has increased monitoring to tackle potential issues related to illicit liquor, especially in the affected regions of the Cheriya Bariyarpur block.
Earlier, during the second week of October this year, 62 individuals reportedly lost their lives in Siwan and Gopalganj districts. However, the state police confirmed 37 fatalities.
In Siwan, the incident transpired in Maghar Kodia Panchayat under the jurisdiction of Bhagwanpur Haat police station.
Likewise, in Saran, an FIR was lodged at the Mashrakh police station following the incident in Brahimpur village. Investigations in both districts revealed that the fatalities were due to spurious liquor.
