Dehradun, Sep 10 (NationPress) Tragically, two individuals lost their lives and 20 others sustained injuries when a bus carrying 22 passengers overturned in the vicinity of Chamba, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday, as reported by local police.
The incident took place at around 10:10 a.m. when the bus, which was on its way from Ghuttu-Ghansali to Haridwar, lost control on a sharp bend approximately 12 kilometers before reaching Chamba. The vehicle collided with a crash barrier before rolling over, according to police authorities.
Officials confirmed that all passengers were trapped inside the bus following the incident.
Rescue teams arrived promptly after the alert was received and rescued the passengers, transporting the injured to local hospitals.
One of the deceased was identified as Sukhdev Maithani from Ghanshali, and the driver, Virendra Singh Negi from Chamba, died at the scene, as per the police statement.
Among the 20 injured, two individuals are reported to be in critical condition.
A police statement noted, "Of the injured, two were referred to a higher medical facility, while the others are being treated at Rampur Khadi hospital."
