Jammu, April 6 (NationPress) Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for the Prime Minister's Office and Lok Sabha representative from Udhampur, Kashmir, unveiled significant developmental initiatives for the Udhampur region on Monday. These initiatives include plans for an ATR flight to commence within six months, followed by the establishment of a complete airport.
Singh shared on X today, “Highlights from the Udhampur DISHA meeting include:
“Aviation advancement: The process for land transfer to facilitate a full-scale civilian airport has commenced. In the meantime, tenders have been issued for the construction of a temporary block on the current site to initiate the ATR flights in about six months.”
“Healthcare enhancement: The Army Command Hospital will start providing regular super-speciality services to civilians, greatly improving access to advanced medical treatment in the area.”
“Economic uplift through food entrepreneurship: An innovative project focused on the traditional milk product ‘Kaladi’ is being undertaken by the advanced ‘Food Technology and Research Institute’ based in Mysuru, Karnataka. Since 2024, Singh has held the position of the 18th Minister of Science and Technology and the 12th Minister of Earth Sciences. He oversees the Prime Minister's Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, as well as the Departments of Atomic Energy and Space.
He was elected to the 18th Lok Sabha from Udhampur with a remarkable majority of 124,373 votes, having won all three Lok Sabha elections he contested for the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014, 2019, and 2024.
As a national executive member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he also served as the chief spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh secured the Udhampur seat in the Indian general elections of 2014 and 2019, achieving the highest margin of votes for the 16th and 17th Lok Sabhas. He successfully retained his seat in 2024 for the 18th Lok Sabha.
