Chennai, Nov 27 (NationPress) As Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marks his 48th birthday on Thursday, he is showered with heartfelt greetings from political figures, party members, and his supporters.
Many leaders have taken to social media to extend their wishes to the DMK youth wing secretary, commending his leadership, dedication, and connection with the youth of Tamil Nadu.
State Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu referred to Udhayanidhi as a “hero of hope”, embodying the aspirations that the party has for its young leader.
The DMK youth wing commemorated this special day by sharing videos and images online, celebrating him as “a leader who serves as a pillar” of the Dravidian model government under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Numerous DMK district branches held modest events throughout Tamil Nadu, largely adhering to Udhayanidhi's personal request to avoid extravagant celebrations.
Born on November 27, 1977, Udhayanidhi was appointed as Deputy Chief Minister on September 28, 2024.
Prior to his birthday, he encouraged party members to refrain from lavish festivities and focus instead on providing aid to the rain-affected regions of southern Tamil Nadu.
“While a birthday brings joy to many, I prefer not to indulge in grand celebrations,” he stated in a message released on Wednesday.
Udhayanidhi is the third individual to take on the role of Deputy Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu.
His father, M.K. Stalin, previously held the same position under the leadership of former Chief Minister and DMK founder M. Karunanidhi. O. Panneerselvam from the AIADMK was the second to assume this role.
K. Selvaperunthagai, president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, praised Udhayanidhi as “the voice of hope for the youth”, highlighting his embodiment of the revolutionary values of Kalaignar Karunanidhi and the welfare-focused governance of the current administration.
“Wishing you good health and the capability to continue serving the people,” he remarked in a post on X.
Before fully committing to politics, Udhayanidhi was a film producer and actor, making him the youngest leader to serve as Deputy Chief Minister.
He presently oversees crucial portfolios, including Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Special Programme Implementation, Poverty Alleviation Initiative, Rural Indebtedness, and Planning and Development.
