New Delhi, May 29 (NationPress) Congress leader Udit Raj intensified his criticism against party MP Shashi Tharoor, who is currently spearheading India’s diplomatic mission on 'Operation Sindoor' in the US and other neighboring countries. Raj demanded that Tharoor should openly acknowledge his error and express remorse for casting the grand old party in an unfavorable light abroad.
He pointed out that the MP from Thiruvananthapuram has not only disregarded and belittled the Congress party’s significant contributions in India’s fight against terrorism but has also disrespected the armed forces and earlier Congress administrations.
Raj remarked, "Tharoor claimed in Panama that our security forces never crossed the Line of Control or International Border (IB). By making such misleading statements, you have dishonored our forces and previous Congress governments."
“During the 1965 war, our troops made significant inroads into Pakistan to teach it a lesson for its miscalculations. The 1971 conflict saw the government led by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi successfully divide Pakistan into two. Under Dr. Manmohan Singh, our forces executed six surgical strikes. You have belittled their sacrifices while glorifying the Modi government,” Raj stated.
“We have no objection to your praises for the Modi administration. However, you have no right to demean the Congress party and downplay its historic contributions,” he continued.
In a provocative remark, Udit Raj mentioned that Tharoor cannot escape accountability by using convoluted English, as his intentions and insinuations are clear to all.
"You have no choice but to regret your disregard for the accomplishments during Congress' tenure. You must confess your error and show remorse,” he urged.
In a cautionary note, the Dalit leader warned that any attempts to tarnish the Congress's image would not go unchallenged by party defenders like himself.
Raj, who transitioned from a bureaucrat to a politician, responded to inquiries about potential actions against Shashi Tharoor for his remarks, stating that the decision rests with the party leadership.
