New Delhi, June 28 (NationPress) In the serene tribal village of Atarmara, nestled in the Chhura block of Gariyaband district, Chhattisgarh, significant changes are occurring within kitchens.
Thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the cooking process, which was once characterized by smoke and long hours, has become quicker, cleaner, and healthier for local women.
This flagship initiative by the central government provides underprivileged rural women with complimentary LPG gas connections and stoves, aiming to replace traditional chulhas that utilize wood, coal, or dung cakes. For the women of Atarmara, this transition has offered tremendous relief.
A beneficiary from Gariyaband expressed her deep appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiative, stating, “We are genuinely grateful to Prime Minister Modi.”
“Previously, cooking on the chulha consumed hours. Gathering firewood, igniting it, and enduring the thick smoke made it a daunting task. The smoke led to eye irritation, headaches, and respiratory issues. Now, with the LPG gas, cooking is much quicker and leaves no smoke in the home,” she elaborated.
Another woman beneficiary shared, “We receive free cylinders through this scheme. It has simplified our lives. Before, our entire kitchen would be enveloped in smoke, causing our eyes to burn and adversely affecting our children. Now, our homes are smoke-free, making cooking both quick and safe.”
A third beneficiary reflected similar sentiments: “This scheme has conserved our time and safeguarded our health. Life has genuinely improved for us women.”
All three women unanimously expressed their gratitude for the scheme, which they believe has led to meaningful, positive changes in their lives.
The effectiveness of the Ujjwala Yojana in villages like Atarmara illustrates the extensive impact of targeted welfare initiatives.
