New Delhi, Aug 30 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his outrage on Saturday against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra for her inflammatory remarks regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah, labeling her statements as “unforgivable and highly condemnable.” He insisted that the Trinamool Congress must issue a public apology, calling her comments a serious affront to the principles of democracy.
In a post on the social media platform X, CM Yogi stated, “The unparliamentary and objectionable comment made by the Trinamool Congress MP against the honourable Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is unforgivable and highly condemnable. This comment, which reveals the political bad manners of the Trinamool Congress, is an insult to every Indian who believes in our democratic values.”
He further asserted, “Trinamool Congress should immediately apologise to the entire country for this indecent and dangerous statement.”
The controversy ignited when Mahua Moitra, during an event in West Bengal’s Nadia district, criticized the Union government over its alleged inability to manage infiltration from Bangladesh. She reportedly stated that “his head should be cut off and put on the table,” referring to Amit Shah, which led to a widespread backlash.
The BJP responded swiftly, accusing Moitra of inciting hatred and making “distasteful” comments that undermine the dignity of public discourse. Numerous BJP leaders questioned whether her statements were representative of the official views of the Trinamool Congress.
Speaking to the press in Nadia district on Thursday, Moitra criticized the central government for its failure to ensure national security.
“They talk endlessly about infiltrators. But border security is the direct responsibility of the Home Ministry, which is clearly failing,” she remarked.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address, she continued, “Even as the PM warned about demographic changes due to infiltration, his Home Minister stood smiling in the front row, clapping.”
In her personal attack on Amit Shah, she declared, “If we don't have anyone to protect our borders, if people from another country are entering every day, if our citizens complain that infiltrators are eyeing our mothers and sisters and snatching our lands, then the first thing you should do is cut Amit Shah's head and put it on your table.”
