Agartala, Nov 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, highlighted on Saturday that 'unity in diversity' stands as a fundamental characteristic of India, underscoring the importance of maintaining harmony across various communities.
During the inauguration of the newly built pucca temple of Puthiba Devta Bari in Abhaynagar, a temple for the Manipuri community located on the outskirts of Agartala, Saha remarked that despite the rich diversity within the Northeastern states, a robust bond of unity exists. He stated, 'The unity among different states is fostered through cultural and traditional exchanges.'
The construction of this pucca temple was funded by the state government, which allocated Rs 74 lakh.
In his address, Saha emphasized that the ancient culture and traditions of the Manipuris are integral to India's historical tapestry. He noted, 'The heritage of Manipuri culture is linked to royal history, and our government is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the cultural legacy of every community, including various castes and tribes.' He mentioned that plans are underway to support this cause.
Saha further praised the renowned dance, drama, and handloom crafts of the Manipuri people, which have gained fame both nationally and internationally, adding, 'This is a source of national pride.' He assured that the state government is committed to advancing the socio-economic conditions of the Manipuri population in Tripura, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'unity in diversity.'
Notable attendees at the event included Rajya Sabha Member Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba from Manipur, former Manipur minister and current MLA Suchindra Meitei, and various local dignitaries.
