Bengaluru, June 26 (NationPress) The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has formally submitted a closure report regarding the alleged case of forceful unnatural sex involving JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna, as confirmed by police sources on Thursday.
Suraj Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and sibling to former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is currently incarcerated due to his involvement in obscenity and sexual assault allegations, is at the center of this case.
The CID has delivered the closure report, known as the B-report, to the Special Court for MLAs/MPs, following a thorough investigation initiated by a complaint from a male JD(S) office-bearer regarding the alleged unnatural sex case.
According to CID sources, the closure report was submitted owing to a lack of sufficient evidence.
This case was first registered at the Holenarasipura Rural police station under various sections of the IPC, including Section 377 (unnatural sex), Section 342 (wrongful confinement), and Section 506 (criminal intimidation).
The victim had escalated his complaint to the DG and IGP as well as the Hassan SP. Suraj Revanna was arrested on June 23, 2024, at the CEN police station and subsequently remanded to custody.
He was later granted bail from the Bengaluru Central Prison on July 22, 2024.
In response to these developments, Suraj Revanna claimed it was a politically motivated conspiracy against him, stating, 'Baseless allegations have been made against me, which I categorically deny. Legal actions will follow, and an FIR has been lodged.'
The complainant alleged that after meeting Suraj Revanna at an event, he was subsequently invited to the latter's farmhouse where he claims to have been sexually assaulted.
Additionally, Suraj Revanna's elder brother, Prajwal Revanna, is also facing legal issues related to sexual assault and obscene videos.
Suraj Revanna's father, H.D. Revanna, a JD(S) MLA, has been jailed and later released on conditional bail in connection with a kidnapping case linked to this matter.
His mother, Bhavani Revanna, is under investigation for her involvement in a kidnapping case related to one of Prajwal Revanna's alleged victims and was recently granted conditional bail.
The Karnataka government has assigned the CID to investigate another sexual assault case involving Suraj Revanna. This second allegation was filed by a male JD(S) worker at the Holenarasipura Rural police station on June 25, 2024.
The complainant stated that he had endured sexual assault by Suraj Revanna four years ago but remained silent about it until now.
He emphasized that he is still a JD(S) worker and that no one coerced him into filing this complaint against Suraj Revanna.
This second case is also registered under IPC's Sections 377, 342, and 506.
In a twist, the victim of the second case has alleged that Suraj Revanna pressured him to file a complaint against the first victim, claiming the latter sought Rs 5 crore from Suraj Revanna while making false accusations.
