New Delhi, June 22 (NationPress) A resident of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh was apprehended by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Delhi during an operation targeting the Maoists who utilize front organizations and student factions in urban settings to instigate conflict against the government, as stated by an official on Sunday.

Vishal Singh was taken into custody in relation to the CPI-Maoist Northern Regional Bureau's conspiracy to revive terrorist activities.

The NIA also confiscated digital equipment, including hard drives, pen drives, and mobile phones, along with other incriminating evidence during a search at Singh's residence in West Delhi, the official noted.

Investigations indicated that Vishal Singh previously delivered a drone to leaders of the banned terrorist group within the Chhakarbanda/Panchrukhiya forest area of Bihar.

The NIA stated that the drone was part of a scheme to foster violent anti-national operations.

Furthermore, Singh provided technical training to other CPI-Maoist members and participated in meetings with central committee officials deep in the forests of Bihar in 2019, according to the NIA.

Singh's associate, Ajay Singhal alias Aman, who leads the State Organising Committee for Haryana and Punjab of CPI-Maoist, was arrested previously in August 2024, as reported by the central agency.

Both individuals were allegedly receiving financial support from the outfit's Eastern Regional Bureau, especially from Jharkhand.

This case pertains to the terror group's conspiracy to rejuvenate its waning influence in the Northern Regional Bureau region, which includes Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, stated an official declaration.

The conspiracy entails recruiting new members and fortifying the organization's presence in the area through underground operatives in urban locales, alongside some overground activists masquerading as social workers.

The NIA revealed that various front organizations and student groups have been exploited by the Maoists to lay the groundwork for advancing their conspiracy, which aims to wage a war against the government.
