Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday, 14 September 2026, announced a sweeping welfare package for the state's legal community, including ₹5 lakh cashless medical insurance for all practising lawyers across Uttar Pradesh and tablets for all 400 government law officers. The announcements were made at an event in Prayagraj, signalling a concerted push by the Adityanath government to consolidate its standing among the legal fraternity ahead of any political cycle.

Key Announcements for the Legal Community

The Chief Minister outlined a multi-pronged package aimed at easing professional and financial pressures on lawyers. A multi-level car parking facility capable of accommodating 10,000 lawyers of the High Court has been announced. Additionally, the government is funding the construction of lawyers' chambers in 12 districts that previously lacked such infrastructure.

Fees for law officers serving as state representatives in courts have been raised by more than 50 per cent, a move likely to boost both morale and retention within the government's legal apparatus.

Adityanath on Good Governance and Judicial Trust

Speaking at the Prayagraj event, Adityanath articulated a broader governance philosophy tied to judicial accountability. 'Good Governance depends on public trust. It is essential for achieving the goals of good governance that the last person in the queue can also experience a sense of pride with trust in constitutional institutions. The greatest test of democracy is that we prove ourselves worthy of public trust,' he said.

He further emphasised that common citizens' faith in the judicial system underpins the functioning of all democratic institutions. 'This faith can be retained only through timely and transparent delivery of justice, with institutional accountability,' the Chief Minister added.

Adityanath also highlighted the government's ongoing push to digitise court documents and records, reiterating its commitment to upgrading court infrastructure across the state.

Allahabad High Court Infrastructure Gets a Boost

The Chief Minister praised the efforts of Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali in accelerating the construction of integrated court complexes in 10 districts that previously had no dedicated district court buildings. He said the state government remains a committed partner in this infrastructure drive.

Lokayukta's 50th Foundation Day

In a separate development on the same day, Adityanath participated in the 50th Foundation Day ceremony of the Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta Organisation in Lucknow. The event saw the release of the Lokayukta Administration's information booklet and a Golden Jubilee Commemorative Volume.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, Adityanath assured the organisation of continued government support, stating that 'every necessary cooperation will be continuously provided from the governance level so that the Lokayukta organisation moves forward by effectively discharging its responsibilities.' He added that integrity and transparency in governance were directly correlated with better outcomes in public service delivery. The twin events in Prayagraj and Lucknow reflect an active week for the Adityanath administration on both judicial welfare and anti-corruption fronts.
