Dehradun, Jan 6 (NationPress) Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reaffirmed the unwavering resolve of the Uttarakhand government to ensure justice in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, stating that all future actions will be aligned with the sentiments of the victim's parents.

In light of the controversies surrounding an alleged audio clip that has circulated throughout the state, the Chief Minister dismissed attempts to foster what he called an “unnecessary atmosphere,” emphasizing that the judicial process has concluded, resulting in significant penalties for the offenders.

Responding to calls for a CBI inquiry, Dhami acknowledged the profound sorrow felt across the state due to Ankita's tragic passing, noting that her parents endure the greatest heartache. “I will personally meet Ankita’s parents. Any subsequent decision will be made only after fully considering their emotions, pain, and expectations,” he committed.

The Chief Minister assured that his government is dedicated to safeguarding the safety, dignity, and justice of women throughout Uttarakhand. He emphasized that the daughters of the state warrant absolute protection and reiterated the administration's vigilance and resolve to thwart such heinous acts in the future.

During a press conference at the state Secretariat’s Media Centre, CM Dhami characterized the quest for justice for Ankita, “a daughter of Uttarakhand,” as the government's top priority. He stressed that the case was handled with utmost seriousness, sensitivity, and transparency. He also highlighted that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by senior female officer Renuka Devi, conducted a thorough and fair investigation.

The SIT examined every aspect of the prominent 2022 case, wherein the 19-year-old resort receptionist was allegedly murdered by her employer and two accomplices. Thanks to the government’s diligent legal efforts, all three accused were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by the trial court.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the quality of the investigation received commendation not only from the lower court but also from both the Uttarakhand High Court and the Supreme Court, which reflects its impartiality and thoroughness.

The Ankita Bhandari case ignited widespread outrage in 2022, leading to protests and urgent calls for justice.

The conviction of the accused last year was seen as a major victory for the prosecution, and Dhami’s recent statement aims to address ongoing concerns while prioritizing the wishes of the victim’s family in all future decisions.
