Uttarakhand's CM Pushkar Dhami Engages with PM Modi Ahead of UCC Implementation

New Delhi, Jan 6 (NationPress) Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter’s official residence on Monday, presenting him with a well-known handmade shawl from the Chamoli region.
This meeting takes place as the state government finalizes preparations for the upcoming implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), set for later this month.
CM Dhami has consistently emphasized that 'Devbhoomi' aims to introduce the UCC in the new year. Sources suggest that the Chief Minister is eager to enact the new legislation by Makar Sakranti on January 14 or by Republic Day.
Dhami’s discussion with PM Modi lends further weight to the anticipated UCC launch this month, and it is believed that the Chief Minister sought the Prime Minister's blessings ahead of the final implementation.
CM Dhami also took to X to share insights from the meeting, stating he 'received guidance' from PM Modi on numerous topics.
“I had the opportunity to meet the great visionary who acts as a yagnik in the grand yagya of our nation’s advancement, making all Indians proud globally. I received valuable guidance on various subjects. During this occasion, I presented him with the renowned handmade shawl from Malari (Chamoli) and a replica of Narayan Ashram in Pithoragarh,” he expressed.
Moreover, the Uttarakhand government has been actively working on several initiatives to ensure a seamless UCC rollout. State officials are scheduled for training until January 20, while support centers and specialized mobile applications have been created to assist with UCC procedures.
The Uttarakhand Home Secretary recently convened a meeting to assess the preparations, attended by District Magistrates, Additional District Magistrates, Chief Development Officers, and Sub-Divisional Magistrates.
The BJP-led mountainous state is poised to become the first state in India to enact the UCC, which establishes a singular law governing various issues such as marriage, divorce, adoption, and inheritance, applicable to all residents regardless of religion, caste, or community.
