New Delhi, Feb 9 (NationPress) In a significant effort to uphold the sanctity of the Vaishno Devi shrine located in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, officials have announced the extension of the ban on the sale, possession, and consumption of liquor and non-vegetarian food in the vicinity for an additional two months.
This prohibition specifically impacts Katra, the base camp for pilgrims heading to the sacred shrine perched on the Trikuta hills.
The ban will be enforced along the 12-kilometre pathway leading from Katra to the Vaishno Devi cave shrine, as well as the surrounding regions, including villages within a 2-kilometre radius on both sides of the trail.
Included in the restricted areas are the villages of Arli, Hansali, and Matyal.
The regulations will also apply along the Katra-Tikri road, which will experience a 200-metre prohibition on either side, affecting villages such as Chamba, Serli, and Bhagta.
Furthermore, the restrictions will extend along the Katra-Jammu road, incorporating villages like Kundrorian, Kotli Bajallian, Nomain, and Maghal, within a 200-metre radius on both sides.
The ban will also be implemented along the Katra-Reasi road, covering the stretch from Katra to Nau Devian, including the Aghar Jitto and Nau Devian markets. Restrictions will be effective within a 200-metre radius on both sides of the road.
Moreover, areas surrounding the Katra-Sool Road railway station and the Panthal-Domail road will also face similar limitations. Specifically, the Katra-Sool Road will have a 200-metre restriction on either side, while the Panthal-Domail road will impose a 100-metre ban on both sides.
This order will remain in force for two months unless lifted earlier. The extension of the ban reflects the authorities' ongoing commitment to preserving the spiritual atmosphere of the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, ensuring a peaceful environment for the multitude of devotees.
