Varanasi, April 11 (NationPress) Nagendra Pandey, the former President of the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, praised the remarkable transformation of Varanasi under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to it as a significant example of development and vision-driven governance.
In an interview with IANS, Nagendra Pandey mentioned that the extent of change in Varanasi is evident and does not require any documentation for validation.
“The advancements in the Varanasi parliamentary constituency do not necessitate reading articles or reports. One just needs to stroll through the city. Even a young traveler to Varanasi is astonished by the changes. Roads that were previously five meters wide have been widened to ten meters. Narrow lanes have transformed into smooth, four-lane roads. This is the reality that people observe and experience,” he stated.
Pandey further highlighted the influence of infrastructure development on the local economy.
“Numerous flyovers have been built in Banaras in a mere decade. Roads have been developed at a remarkable rate, connecting cities such as Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Ramnagar, and Allahabad. If you converse with hotel owners or taxi drivers, you’ll discover how their earnings have increased. Someone who once operated a small tea stall has now established a hotel. That’s the magnitude of transformation,” he elaborated.
He remarked that Varanasi has not only expanded physically but has also improved in terms of educational and healthcare facilities.
“Schools and colleges now boast superior amenities. The establishment of Ishwar Medical College and a significant Ayurveda college here serves as proof of our advancement. Even our airport and railway station now showcase world-class standards, providing tenfold more services than before,” he added.
Commenting on Prime Minister Modi’s 50th visit to Varanasi, where he laid the groundwork for 44 new development projects, Pandey expressed his gratitude.
“The Prime Minister mentioned that Maa Ganga has summoned him to Kashi, and we believe there is a divine purpose behind his endeavors. He didn’t arrive here with any personal motives but to serve—whether by distributing Ayushman cards or executing welfare initiatives. He does not merely make promises; he fulfills them,” Pandey stated.
Addressing the ongoing discourse surrounding the Waqf (Amendment) Act, Pandey clarified any misunderstandings.
“Some individuals are spreading misinformation about the Waqf Act. This amendment was not introduced haphazardly. It was thoughtfully considered. Numerous marginalized ‘Pasmanda’ Muslims who were previously overlooked will find equality and inclusiveness through this law. The critics are often those abusing the system for personal gain,” he remarked.
Pandey concluded by asserting that the positive impacts of the amended Waqf Act will become apparent in the forthcoming years, benefiting communities that have long been disregarded.
