Chennai, Oct 28 (NationPress) The Vice President of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan, called on citizens to unite and work diligently to realize the national aspiration of 'Viksit Bharat 2047'.
During his address at the Coimbatore Citizens Forum, he emphasized that both farmers and industrial workers are essential to India's advancement, highlighting that the nation’s wealth hinges on their combined efforts.
“Modernization does not replace labor — it amplifies it,” the Vice President remarked, underscoring the necessity for agricultural and industrial growth to progress together for comprehensive national development.
He stated that India's evolution into a developed nation by 2047 will demand commitment, discipline, and a common sense of purpose among all citizens.
Radhakrishnan, who commenced his public journey in Coimbatore, received a grand reception upon his arrival, marking his first visit since taking office as Vice President last month.
He touched down at the Coimbatore International Airport via a special flight from Seychelles, where he participated in the swearing-in ceremony of the new President of the island nation.
He was welcomed by Tamil Nadu Ministers Muthusamy and Saminathan, BJP State President Nainar Nagendran, former State chief K. Annamalai, and Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan.
Numerous BJP supporters and members of the public gathered at the airport to greet him with cheers, garlands, and slogans.
While addressing attendees at CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, Radhakrishnan expressed, “I began my public life in Coimbatore, and it is a source of pride to return here as the Vice President of India. This role is not merely my personal honor — it is a tribute to every Tamil, for Kongu Nadu, and for Coimbatore.”
He added, “If the nation progresses, we progress alongside it. This success is not solely mine; it belongs to every citizen who embodies the spirit of hard work and integrity.”
Later, the Vice President paid floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Coimbatore Corporation Office complex and took part in the centenary celebrations of Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar at Perur Aadheenam.
A minor security incident arose near the Corporation Office when two youths accessed a restricted area on a two-wheeler. Police detained them for questioning after a complaint from BJP workers.
Addressing the situation, Radhakrishnan stated, “There is no deficiency in my security. The people of Coimbatore are my shield.”
On Wednesday, he plans to visit Tiruppur and Madurai, including a visit to the Meenakshi Amman Temple, followed by participation in the Muthuramalinga Thevar Jayanthi celebrations in Ramanathapuram before returning to New Delhi.
