Jaipur, Jan 16 (NationPress) In a significant achievement in the Rajasthan government's quest for a crime-free environment, the state's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has apprehended Prakash Jani, also known as Pappu or Dakuda, a notorious liquor smuggler with a bounty of Rs 50,000.

The arrest took place in Sanchore, located in the Jalore district, after a thrilling pursuit that spanned nearly two kilometers.

Under the guidance of Additional Director General (ADG) Dinesh MN, the AGTF executed a meticulously orchestrated plan following reliable intelligence.

This operation signifies another major victory in exposing and dismantling organized liquor-smuggling operations that operate within Rajasthan and neighboring states.

As per ADG Dinesh MN, AGTF Constables Sunil and Sumer Singh acted on credible information indicating that the long-sought criminal had come to Jodhpur to visit his family and was heading back to his native village in Chitalwana, Jalore.

Upon confirmation of this information, a specialized team was formed under the oversight of Superintendent of Police (SP) Gyanchand Yadav and Assistant SP Narottam Lal Verma, led by Deputy SP Phoolchand Tailor and Assistant Sub-Inspector Rakesh Jakhar.

While the team tracked the suspect's movements, Prakash Jani made several attempts to evade capture by frequently changing locations.

Near Sanchore, as the accused sensed police presence, he tried to escape.

A dramatic chase unfolded between the AGTF team and the smuggler, spanning approximately 1.5 to 2 kilometers.

Ultimately, the team managed to surround and capture the suspect near the Char Rasta intersection on Raniwara Road in Sanchore.

Prakash Jani is recognized as a key player in inter-state liquor and narcotics trafficking.

In March 2022, Sanchore police had seized 405 cartons of illegal liquor from an abandoned petrol tanker, where Jani was the main accused. He had been on the run ever since.

Numerous serious charges under the NDPS Act and Excise Act have been filed against him in Sanchore, Abu Road, Balesar, and Gudamalani.

He allegedly trafficked liquor from Haryana and Punjab, distributing it to Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The successful operation saw significant contributions from DSP Phoolchand, ASI Rakesh Jakhar, and Constable Maganaram, with Constable Surendra Kumar providing vital technical assistance.

The precise intelligence gathered by Constables Sunil and Sumer Singh was crucial in the apprehension of the wanted criminal.

The accused has been handed over to the Sanchore Police Station, where extensive interrogation is anticipated to unveil a broader smuggling network and its connections.
