New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) As the Waqf (Amendment) Bill approaches the Rajya Sabha Test after a smooth passage through the Lok Sabha, numerous Parliamentarians expressed their opinions on the divisive bill.

The ruling party MPs hailed the Bill, declaring the moment ‘historic,’ while those from the Opposition criticized the government for ‘betraying’ the minority community.

Kangana Ranaut informed IANS that the approval of the Waqf Bill marks a historic moment and will lead to enhanced governance of its properties.

“This is a historic day and has been made achievable due to the Modi government. The amendments within the Bill will introduce transparency and enable better governance in the oversight of Waqf properties, and if any misconduct occurs, the corrupt individuals will be held accountable. Previously, there was no such system, thus leaving them in complete despair,” remarked the BJP MP from Mandi.

Manoj Tiwari, BJP MP from Delhi, criticized Congress and Sonia Gandhi’s opposition to the Bill, stating, “For the grand old party, it may be a black day, but for the nation, it is a day of celebration.”

Refuting Congress’s allegations of the government bulldozing the Bill in Parliament, he asserted that those who themselves lack belief in democracy think this way.

“Congress does not practice democracy within the party, so how could they endorse such a Bill?” he said with a mocking tone.

He claimed that many Congress members are known to benefit from Waqf properties and added, “This is a day of joy for everyone, a sorrowful day for those profiting from Waqf Board properties.”

Criticizing the dissenters, he claimed that those who oppose Waqf are the same individuals profiting from Waqf properties.

Congress MP Tariq Anwar labeled the passage of the Waqf Bill as a dark chapter in democracy.

“This is a black day in the annals of democracy because the Waqf Bill will strip the rights of the Muslim community. The government is coercing the community to gain its support. It introduced the Bill affecting the Muslim community but never attempted to consult them,” he stated.

LJP MP Sambhavi Chaudhary asserted, “In contrast to claims of indecision, the Modi government is decisively and resolutely on its journey towards a Viksit Bharat. The Waqf Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with a clear majority and will also successfully pass through the Rajya Sabha.”
