Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 19 (NationPress) The government of West Bengal has officially declared an ad hoc bonus for civic volunteers working with both the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police, along with village police volunteers associated with the West Bengal Police, for the fiscal year 2025-26.
This announcement was conveyed through a notification released from the state secretariat, Nabanna. According to the notification, civic volunteers serving under the state police and Kolkata Police, as well as village police volunteers affiliated with the West Bengal Police, will benefit from this bonus in the ongoing financial year.
The ad hoc bonus has been raised by a fixed amount of Rs 600. Earlier, on February 27, the state government had declared an increase in the ad hoc bonus for its employees. This enhancement has now been extended to include civic and village police volunteers.
As a result of this recent announcement, both civic and village police volunteers will now receive Rs 7,400 each, an increase from the previous amount of Rs 6,800.
It is important to mention that on February 27, the state Finance Department had issued a notification indicating that government employees not eligible for the ‘Productivity Linked Bonus Scheme’ and whose revised monthly salary as of March 31, 2026, does not exceed Rs 46,000, will receive a bonus of Rs 7,400 per individual.
Contractual employees and those who have completed six months of service are also eligible for this bonus, subject to certain conditions. Payments will be processed according to the West Bengal Services (Revision of Pay and Allowances) Rules, 2019, and will exclude allowances such as House Rent Allowance, Medical Allowance, and subsidies.
Additionally, it is noteworthy that just hours prior to the formal announcement of the Assembly poll notification for West Bengal on March 15, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee revealed a raise in monthly honorariums for purohits and muezzins.
In a post on social media, Banerjee declared an increase of Rs 500 in the monthly honorarium, bringing their new compensation to Rs 2,000 per month.
