Kolkata, Oct 12 (NationPress) The West Bengal government has released stringent regulations regarding the foreign travel of government employees, as confirmed by an official on Sunday. A formal notification has been disseminated regarding this matter.
It has been explicitly stated that regardless of the nature of the travel—be it personal, for Leave Travel Concession (LTC), or official purposes—arrangements for travel or accommodation will not be approved without prior consent.
The notification further emphasized that such actions constitute a breach of administrative protocols.
"It has been observed that some government officials from various departments are seeking permission from the competent authority for private foreign trips, LTC trips, or official visits only after making travel and accommodation arrangements," the notification from the state Chief Secretary, Manoj Pant, mentioned.
"These practices compromise adherence to established rules and procedural standards. Therefore, it is reiterated that no leniency or special permissions will be granted solely on the basis that travel or accommodation plans are already in place. All parties involved are urged to comply with the existing instructions that mandate prior approval for such journeys to maintain procedural integrity and administrative compliance," the notification stated.
The government also added, "All Heads of Departments (HODs) must ensure that, under typical circumstances, proposals are submitted to this office at least four weeks before the start of the leave period."
The Chief Secretary has categorically stated that no exceptions or special permissions will be accorded simply because arrangements have been made. According to government regulations, obtaining prior permission for foreign travel is essential. This has been reiterated, with a warning that administrative measures may be taken against any employee who fails to comply.
As per government sources, this initiative aims to instill consistent discipline in the permission processes concerning foreign travel.
