Jamshedpur, Dec 29 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu on Monday called upon students to utilize their technical expertise as a means for human welfare and to foster inclusive nation-building during her address at the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, where she was the chief guest.
According to her, a convocation ceremony is more than just a celebration of academic achievements; it is a moment to make new life commitments.
“Success should not solely be evaluated by prestigious positions or personal accomplishments, but rather by the positive influence one has on the lives of others,” stated the President.
She pointed out the various challenges the country faces, such as waste management, sustainability, and environmental protection, emphasizing that these issues require not just technical know-how but also social and economic insights.
President Murmu expressed her appreciation for the establishment of the Centre for Innovation and Incubation at NIT Jamshedpur, highlighting that such initiatives enhance the startup ecosystem and motivate young innovators.

Earlier, President Murmu attended and addressed the closing ceremony of the 22nd Parsi Maha and the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script in Jamshedpur.
During the occasion, she remarked on the rich language, literature, and cultural heritage of the Santhal community. However, she noted that due to the lack of a dedicated script, Santhali was previously written in Roman, Devanagari, Odia, and Bengali scripts, often resulting in mispronunciation.
She recalled that in 1925, Pandit Raghunath Murmu developed the Ol Chiki script, which has since become a powerful symbol of Santhal identity. The President also highlighted that she had released the Constitution of India in Santhali, utilizing the Ol Chiki script, on December 25, coinciding with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Expressing her optimism, she stated that this initiative would allow Santhali-speaking individuals to read and comprehend the Constitution in their native tongue.
