Srinagar, Dec 13 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, declared on Saturday that the administration maintains a firm policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. He emphasized that ensuring justice, dignity, and rehabilitation for victims of terror is a primary focus.

At Lok Bhawan, the Lieutenant Governor presented job offer letters to 39 Next of Kins (NoKs) of terror victims from the Kashmir Division. Sinha reiterated the government's dedication to providing justice, employment, and dignity to families affected by terrorism.

During the event, relatives of those killed by terrorists recounted their traumatic experiences and the suffering they have endured over the years.

“For these families, the quest for justice has finally reached a conclusion. With tangible measures for rehabilitation, we have restored their dignity and renewed their trust in the system,” the Lieutenant Governor remarked.

Sinha pointed out that terrorism has not only taken innocent lives but has also devastated families, leaving them in silence, stigma, and poverty for decades. “Every heinous act by terrorists conceals the story of a home that could never heal, of children raised without parents,” he noted.

He highlighted several cases where long-standing grievances were resolved. Pakeeza Riyaz from Anantnag, whose father was murdered in 1999, and Shaista from Hyderpora, whose father was killed in 2000, received job letters from the government, concluding their long struggles for justice and financial stability.

Ishtiyaq Ahmad, son of the valiant BSF officer Altaf Hussain, who lost his life in a terrorist encounter nearly 19 years ago, also secured a government position, aiding a family that has faced immense hardship since the sacrifice of their father.

Justice was also served to the family of Dilawar Ganie and his son Fayaz Ganie from Qazigund, who were brutally killed on February 4, 2000. “In one tragic day, Fayaz’s young daughter Fozy lost both her guiding lights—two generations of support. Their once vibrant home has been silenced by fear and grief for 25 years,” the Lieutenant Governor expressed.

He mentioned the case of Abdul Aziz Dar, who was murdered by terrorists three decades ago. “Today marks the end of his family's long quest for justice,” Sinha stated.

The Lieutenant Governor remarked that since the abrogation of Article 370, families of terror victims have discovered new strength and confidence, now speaking out against the terror ecosystem without trepidation.

“For years, the system neglected these victims by failing to prioritize their cases. We are amplifying victims’ voices and guaranteeing they receive the rights and entitlements they deserve. Additionally, we are committed to swift and equitable justice for the offenders,” he affirmed.

Sinha underscored that the fight against terrorism is a collective societal responsibility. “We must vow to combat this menace with resolve and perseverance, thwarting our adversaries' plans,” he urged.

“For too long, the anguish and trauma of these families went unnoticed. The true victims of terrorism and genuine martyrs were persecuted by elements of the terror ecosystem. While overground workers (OGWs) were offered government jobs, the NoKs of terror victims were abandoned,” he criticized.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, our stance on terrorism is clear—zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms. Every resource will be mobilized to eradicate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir, and those providing refuge or any form of support to terrorists will face severe consequences,” the Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed.

On this occasion, appointment letters were also distributed to 39 other beneficiaries under the Compassionate Appointment Rules (SRO-43) and the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS).

A total of 156 family members of terror victims have been offered self-employment opportunities through various programs, including Mission Yuva, the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

Furthermore, 17 encroachments have been removed from properties belonging to terror victim families, and 36 terror victim families have been earmarked for house reconstruction, with more families set to be included in the ongoing process. The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that reconstruction efforts for homes damaged due to Pakistani shelling in Uri and Karnah will commence in April.

Birdi; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo; Chairman, Save Youth Save Future Foundation, Wajahat Farooq Bhat; alongside senior officials, members of various social organizations, and families of terror victims.
