New Delhi, 24 July (NationPress) Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) announced on Thursday that it is divesting a 50 percent stake in its Kutch Copper Tubes Ltd. subsidiary to MetTube while simultaneously acquiring a 50 percent interest in MetTube Copper India Pvt. Ltd. This will create a joint venture aimed at producing copper tubes that will significantly lessen the country's reliance on imports.
The company stated, "AEL has engaged in a share purchase and shareholders agreement with MetTube Mauritius Private Limited (MetTube), focusing on providing next-generation solutions to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector through advanced facilities."
This partnership is designed to minimize India's reliance on imported copper tubes, fostering a strong domestic framework for copper-based applications, the statement continued.
MetTube, part of the diversified Metdist Group, offers decades of international experience in producing high-quality copper tubes. Adani Enterprises, via its wholly owned subsidiaries, has already set up cutting-edge copper manufacturing infrastructure in Gujarat's Mundra, including the greenfield copper tube facility under Kutch Copper Tubes Limited (KCTL).
This dual investment structure guarantees equal ownership and shared governance, allowing both organizations to collaboratively develop a future-ready copper tube business, aligning with India's aspirations for enhanced energy efficiency and lowered carbon emissions, as noted in the company’s statement.
“This collaboration with MetTube represents a strategic advancement towards achieving self-reliance in copper tube manufacturing. By merging Adani’s infrastructure and operational excellence with MetTube’s global proficiency, we are not just enhancing capacity—we are building capability,” stated Jeet Adani, Whole Time Director of Adani Group.
“The demand for copper tubes in India is on the rise, and this collaboration reinforces our commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative with globally competitive manufacturing. Together with Adani, we aspire to produce high-quality, locally manufactured Inner Grooved copper tubes that adhere to international standards. This partnership embodies our mutual goal for sustainable growth and innovation,” remarked Apurv Bagri, Chairman of Metdist Group.
This partnership harnesses Adani’s forward-integrated copper ecosystem—anchored by its 0.5 MTPA copper refinery project in Mundra—alongside MetTube’s global manufacturing and marketing expertise. This synergy will foster rapid scale and efficiency in copper tube production, supporting India’s green infrastructure objectives by providing high-performance copper tubes for HVAC, renewable energy, and smart construction applications. The copper tubes produced are set to serve essential sectors such as air conditioning, refrigeration, and plumbing, where demand is surging due to urbanization and climate-responsive infrastructure needs, the statement concluded.
