New Delhi, June 13 (NationPress) The recently inaugurated All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is playing a vital role in enhancing the scientific landscape of the nation and transforming patient care, stated Jagat Prakash Nadda, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, during a virtual address on Friday.
He made these remarks while participating in the inaugural edition of the Conclave on “Best Practices” organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at AIIMS, Nagpur.
This two-day Conclave aims to highlight exemplary practices adopted by various AIIMS institutions, emphasizing patient-centric care, operational efficiency, digital transformation, and academic excellence.
As part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), the establishment of 22 new AIIMS across the nation was approved, of which nearly 20 are now operational.
The Union health minister remarked that these top-tier healthcare institutes are not only increasing bed capacity in the healthcare system but also fostering research and innovation.
“The new AIIMS are significantly advancing India’s scientific progress through regionally relevant studies, ethical clinical trials, and translational research. It is heartening to see efforts aimed at fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, which will be crucial to addressing complex public health challenges in the years ahead,” Nadda expressed.
“AIIMS campuses are transforming patient care by providing high-quality, evidence-based, and affordable treatment through state-of-the-art infrastructure and a broad range of specialties. The incorporation of e-governance tools, transparent administrative frameworks, and patient-centric innovations like Jan Aushadhi Kendras, digital registration systems, and dedicated helpdesks exemplifies that efficiency and compassion can coexist within public healthcare frameworks,” he continued.
Nadda emphasized that “each AIIMS, recognized as an Institute of National Importance, integrates advanced clinical care, top-tier medical education, and research excellence.”
He also pointed out that AIIMS is strategically located to address regional disparities and functions as a hub for healthcare innovation and learning, thereby providing equitable, affordable, and evidence-based healthcare services,” Nadda stated.
Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of sharing best practices and innovations from each new AIIMS for broader application and utilization. He praised AIIMS Nagpur for “taking the lead in organizing the inaugural conclave on best practices.”
Nadda remarked that “this conclave represents a groundbreaking initiative aimed at consolidating the rich experiences of new AIIMS in three key areas: teaching-learning and research; hospital services; and governance and patient convenience.”
He underscored the crucial role of AIIMS in preparing doctors to tackle future healthcare challenges.
