New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri expressed his admiration for the initiatives undertaken by the government-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Green R&D Centre located in Bengaluru, urging them to enhance both their scope and speed of innovation.
In a post shared on the X social media platform, Puri remarked, "I felt both inspired and thrilled after my visit to the HPCL Green R&D Centre in Bengaluru."
He highlighted that this state-of-the-art research facility is home to over 150 dedicated scientists focused on pioneering advancements in refining technologies, petrochemical catalysts, battery innovations, internal combustion engine assessments, flex-fuel engine timing kits, green hydrogen for transportation, and converting seaweed into biocrude.
Puri pointed out that an impressive 37% of the scientists at this centre are women leaders making significant contributions towards building an Energy Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Commending the centre's efforts in refining technologies and sustainable fuels, Puri stated, "The fascinating work being conducted here is commendable, and I urged the team to broaden the scope and expedite their groundbreaking projects."
Earlier in the month, he noted that India's energy landscape is transitioning into a new era, with seven sedimentary basins currently under examination using advanced technology for oil and gas exploration nationwide.
Puri emphasized that this is an opportune moment for entrepreneurs and industry leaders to invest in India's oil and gas exploration, claiming that it has never been more straightforward, rapid, or lucrative to contribute to India's energy future.
Despite a slow anticipated growth in the global energy market, India is positioned as a beacon of opportunity, expected to account for approximately 30-33% of the global energy demand surge in upcoming decades.
Currently, India boasts 23 world-class refineries with a collective capacity of 258.2 MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum), placing it among the top five refining countries worldwide.
