New Delhi, June 26 (NationPress) - On Thursday, Bharti Airtel revealed that its AI-driven fraud detection system has effectively protected over 3.5 million users in the Delhi-NCR region from increasing online scams.
This significant achievement came just 43 days after the nationwide launch of the sophisticated fraud detection system, as stated by Airtel.
“In the past 43 days since the system's introduction, Airtel has successfully blocked over 188,000 harmful links, safeguarding 106 million users across India,” the company reported.
This advanced system is automatically activated for all Airtel mobile and broadband subscribers, scanning and filtering links across various platforms such as SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, email, and other browsers.
Utilizing real-time threat intelligence, the system analyzes over 1 billion URLs each day, effectively blocking access to dangerous sites in under 100 milliseconds.
“At Airtel, our commitment is to safeguard our customers against various forms of fraud. By integrating our network with an AI-enhanced fraud detection solution, we ensure that our users are shielded from emerging threats without any action required from them,” stated Nidhi Lauria, CEO – Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh (West), Bharti Airtel.
“We believe it is essential to take immediate action to secure the digital landscape of the future, and we are proud to lead this initiative by offering a safer and more comprehensive network for our customers in Delhi-NCR,” Lauria added.
As Delhi-NCR is recognized as one of India's most digitally advanced regions, the risk of online fraud has escalated.
Fraudsters are increasingly targeting users with phishing links, fake deliveries, and fraudulent banking alerts.
The system can potentially scan links in suspicious messages, flagging and blocking them. This real-time interception serves as a digital barrier, protecting families, senior citizens, homemakers, students, and first-time smartphone users from various types of fraud, according to the company.
The AI-driven platform also provides fraud alerts in the user's preferred language, including Hindi, making it particularly effective for a diverse demographic.
This solution operates seamlessly in the background, requires no installation, and is provided at no cost, the company noted.
