Five Indian Researchers Inducted into EMBO Global Investigator Network

New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) The European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) has inducted 11 life scientists as the newest members of the EMBO Global Investigator Network, with five of them representing India, as reported by the government on Friday.

Among these five Indian researchers, two are affiliated with the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) in Faridabad: associate professors Dr. Prem Kaushal and Dr. Rajender Motiani.

Dr. Kaushal's research is centered on protein synthesis in pathogenic microbes such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Entamoeba histolytica, whereas Dr. Motiani's research program investigates the role of calcium-driven inter-organelle crosstalk in skin pigmentation.

Dr. Motiani expressed, “I look forward to engaging and networking with some of the brightest life science researchers across the globe.”

Dr. Kaushal stated, “I am thankful to EMBO for acknowledging our research efforts. This recognition will facilitate international collaborations and introduce new technologies to the Regional Centre for Biotechnology.”

The EMBO Global Investigator Network is designed to assist young group leaders in countries including Chile, India, Singapore, and Taiwan.

The newly appointed global investigators will join an international network comprising nearly 800 current and former EMBO Global Investigators, Young Investigators, and Installation Grantees, with their term commencing in January 2025, as per the Ministry of Science and Technology.

“We are thrilled to welcome the new EMBO Global Investigators. Their research exemplifies the universal language of discovery and offers diverse perspectives to address fundamental research questions and global challenges,” stated EMBO Director Professor Fiona Watt.

“We are pleased to support these exceptional group leaders in establishing connections with scientists in Europe and across the globe,” Watt added.

The new global investigators will receive financial backing for a period of four years to facilitate networking activities and collaborations with local and European scientists.

RCB is an academic institution founded by the Department of Biotechnology, fostering regional and global partnerships that align with the programs of UNESCO as a Category II Centre.
