New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) The forthcoming NIELIT Digital University (NDU) platform, scheduled for launch tomorrow, is poised to deliver courses in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and data science, as stated by the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) on Wednesday.
This NDU initiative, part of the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT)—a self-governing scientific body under MeitY—will be officially inaugurated by Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister of MeitY.
Designed to expand access to premium digital education, the NDU platform will provide industry-centric curricula in specialized sectors such as AI, cybersecurity, data science, semiconductors, and related domains, featuring adaptable online learning options and virtual laboratories to prepare the youth with essential future skills, according to the Ministry.
The Union Minister is also expected to virtually inaugurate five new NIELIT Centres located in Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Balasore (Odisha), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Daman (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu), and Lunglei (Mizoram).
Over 1,500 participants are anticipated, including NIELIT students from across India, renowned academics, and technology specialists. The event will showcase dedicated stalls highlighting NIELIT’s capabilities in various electronics and information technology sectors.
Additionally, there will be a signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading industry partners to bolster collaboration between academia and industry.
NIELIT is a frontrunner in skill enhancement and digital empowerment, boasting a presence through 56 centers, more than 750 accredited institutes, and over 9,000 facilitation centers, having trained a total of 43,60,759 candidates in emerging technologies, as reported by government data.
In July, the government revealed that “more than 43 lakh youth have been skilled throughout the nation under NIELIT.”
“Since 2020-21, over Rs 493 crore has been allocated for NIELIT, with the highest allocation in 2024-25 amounting to Rs 1,53,08,52,398,” the government stated.
