Tirupati, Oct 1 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party’s floor leader in Lok Sabha, Peddireddy Midhun Reddy, who is implicated in a liquor case and recently released on bail, claimed on Wednesday that he was treated like a terrorist while incarcerated.
Speaking to the media, Midhun Reddy expressed that he is unafraid of the baseless charges levied against him by the TDP-led NDA administration in Andhra Pradesh.
He accused the ruling coalition of engaging in diversionary tactics by filing fabricated cases against YSRCP leaders, asserting that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has historically resorted to such measures upon gaining power.
The Rajampet MP, who was apprehended in the Rs 3,200 crore liquor scam on July 19 and released from Rajahmundry Jail after being granted bail by the ACB court in Vijayawada, stated that the coalition government’s attempts to intimidate its adversaries through false cases were foolish.
Midhun Reddy pointed out that he faced similar trumped-up charges during the TDP's tenure from 2014 to 2019.
He alleged that he was treated like a terrorist, deprived of basic amenities, and kept in isolation until the court intervened. According to him, jail authorities placed him under continuous CCTV surveillance, restricted his communication, and acted under substantial political pressure.
Midhun Reddy contended that the coalition government was intentionally using such false accusations to distract from its administrative shortcomings. He explained that whenever public discontent grew, the ruling party would introduce unrelated issues and file false charges to redirect focus.
He expressed his gratitude to YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and party members for their unwavering support during challenging times.
He acknowledged that these cases might distress his parents, yet they would not diminish his resolve. Instead, Midhun Reddy asserted his readiness to confront every challenge through legal means and enhance his connection with the populace.
He added that the coalition's conspiracies would ultimately fail, as these false cases might yield temporary satisfaction for TDP leaders but would not bring about any lasting political outcome.
