How is Hafele India Collaborating with the Government to Support Local Startups and MSMEs?

New Delhi, May 8 (NationPress) The Centre’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has officially partnered with Hafele India Pvt Ltd by signing a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing India’s manufacturing and innovation ecosystem. This initiative is set to empower product startups, MSMEs, and aspiring entrepreneurs, as detailed in a statement released on Thursday.

The MoU was executed by DPIIT Director Sumeet Jarangal and Hafele India's Managing Director for South Asia, Frank Schloeder, with senior officials from both entities in attendance. The agreement will be valid for a duration of two years from the signing date, with prospects for extension contingent on mutual consent.

This strategic partnership will see Hafele spearhead initiatives that cultivate product innovation, promote local sourcing, and encourage entrepreneurship through targeted investments, mentorship, and integration into global value chains.

The collaboration underscores a mutual dedication to developing robust local supply chains and advancing India’s aspiration of becoming a global manufacturing hub, according to the statement.

Hafele plans to enhance its support for startups and MSMEs by providing access to necessary infrastructure, supplier development opportunities, technical collaboration, and market access. The German firm has already pledged over $2.5 million to Indian appliance manufacturing startups and has placed orders with Indian MSME manufacturers specializing in architectural hardware and furniture fittings. DPIIT will facilitate ecosystem access through Startup India, enabling connections for startups, facilitating program participation, and co-branding opportunities.

DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv remarked: "The alliance with Hafele India showcases our strategy to nurture collaborative industrial ecosystems. It merges global best practices with local entrepreneurial vigor to drive sustainable manufacturing growth in line with the Make in India vision."

Hafele's Managing Director for South Asia, Schloeder, expressed excitement about the MoU, stating: "At Hafele, we recognize that India’s innovation and manufacturing capabilities are unparalleled. This agreement allows us to deepen our collaboration with Indian entrepreneurs and startups, moving towards the vision of ‘India for India’ today and ‘India for the World’ tomorrow."

Hafele India Pvt. Ltd. has actively engaged with the Indian market, concentrating on furniture and kitchen fittings while expanding its presence in appliances. CRISIL Ratings has reaffirmed Hafele India's ratings, indicating the company’s growth trajectory in the furniture and fittings sector. The firm also aims to enhance sourcing from India, targeting 30 percent by December 2025.
