New Delhi, Oct 9 (NationPress) On Thursday, Imperial College London unveiled a collaborative initiative with Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB) aimed at fostering the exchange of talent and knowledge while enhancing innovation between the UK and India.
This new alliance will focus on co-developing state-of-the-art open research facilities at SGB, facilitating UK-India and global talent exchange through a joint fellowship, and exploring collaborations in public engagement, research, and education based on shared expertise and facilities.
By uniting their strengths, both institutions aim to mold the innovators of tomorrow and nurture the next wave of talent.
This partnership was revealed during a trade meeting between India and the UK, coinciding with Prime Minister Keir Starmer's two-day visit to India, supported by the largest trade delegation ever sent from the UK.
“This thrilling collaboration serves as a springboard for UK-India innovation and scientific partnerships. Imperial’s prowess in innovation and incubation will establish a distinct laboratory and meeting space with Science Gallery Bengaluru, where groundbreaking solutions to global challenges will be developed and realized,” stated Professor Hugh Brady, President of Imperial.
“We are thrilled to partner with Imperial College London to co-create our Public Lab Complex. This marks a significant step toward establishing shared spaces that foster inquiry, creativity, and learning across borders. We are eager to see what we can achieve together,” expressed Dr. Jahnavi Phalkey, Founding Director at Science Gallery Bengaluru.
The partnership aims to enhance the Science Gallery’s Public Lab Complex and co-create a fresh array of initiatives that encompass innovation and discovery challenges, science and technology fellowships, and public engagement.
“Together, we aspire to promote locally grounded and globally relevant innovation through community-engaged science, encouraging researchers to integrate diverse perspectives that will shape and inspire their ideas. This will prepare the next generation of innovators and scientific leaders to translate their research into impactful real-world applications, bringing us closer to addressing shared global challenges,” Phalkey remarked.
The proposed joint initiatives encompass the diversification and expansion of the Science Gallery Bengaluru’s Public Lab Complex, which currently includes five areas: the nature lab, the materials lab, the food lab, the new media lab, and the theory lab.
