Mumbai, Oct 9 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Thursday that a clear vision, swift decision-making, and a strong emphasis on execution are the three key pillars of Maharashtra’s development.
Speaking at the Global Fintech Fest 2025 conference, Fadnavis highlighted that several initiatives, such as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, had been stalled for years, but the ‘Infrastructure War Room’ has expedited the decision-making process.
He noted that previously, the initial phase of the Mumbai Metro required six years just for planning. In contrast, the government progressed to the tender stage for the extensive 372 km metro network in merely 11 months.
“Our ambition is to transform Maharashtra into a trillion-dollar economy by 2030. We aim to elevate the Mumbai Metropolitan Region to a 1.5 trillion dollar economy through the MMR Growth Hub Initiative,” the Chief Minister asserted.
He further announced plans for a ‘Third Mumbai’ in the Navi Mumbai region, which will encompass Edu City, Innovation City, Sports City, and GCC City.
“Edu City will host campuses of 10 to 12 international universities, providing opportunities for 100,000 students to receive education at world-class institutions. This initiative will foster the creation of a new city and economy,” he stated.
Fadnavis emphasized that world-class research and technology-driven industries will be promoted within the Innovation City. He noted that N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, is spearheading the blueprint for this ambitious project.
“India's largest port project is underway at Vadhavan, located in the northern part of Mumbai. This port, with a draft depth of 20 meters, is set to rank among the top ten ports globally,” he revealed.
Additionally, plans for Mumbai’s third offshore airport and a bullet train station have been proposed.
“These developments will position Mumbai as a new financial hub,” the Chief Minister added.
Touching upon technological advances, he mentioned that artificial intelligence is revolutionizing various sectors in the state. The government has allocated Rs 500 crore for the agriculture sector.
“An ‘AI Mission’ has been launched, and AI chatbots have been developed for farmers in Marathi, Hindi, and English. We are exploring sustainable agricultural practices utilizing technology to mitigate the effects of climate change,” he added.
The Chief Minister also called upon new industries, researchers, and startups to collaborate and engage with the government of Maharashtra.
