New Delhi, Oct 15 (NationPress) In a bid to enhance insights into cyber threats affecting the maritime sector, the Indian Navy is set to host a seminar this Thursday.
The event, titled ‘Impact of Cyber Attacks on Maritime Sector and Its Effects on National Security and International Relations’, aims to promote collaboration among key stakeholders to strengthen cybersecurity and fortify the country’s cybersecurity framework.
The Minister of State for IT, Jitin Prasada, will provide the keynote address during the opening session. Panel discussions will include prominent experts from various ministries and organisations.
Participating bodies include the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC), and the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), alongside leaders from private sectors.
Discussion topics will include ‘Global Cyber Threats to Maritime Infrastructure,’ ‘Civil and Military Partnership,’ and ‘Maritime Sector as Critical Information Infrastructure’.
The ministry indicates that this seminar supports the Prime Minister’s vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across the Regions) by establishing a secure cyberspace and aligns with the call for Aatmanirbhar Bharat through homegrown, secure-by-design digital systems and strong public-private partnerships.
In line with ‘Maritime India Vision 2030’ and the ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’, the seminar views cybersecurity as a vital component of port-led growth, intelligent logistics, offshore energy security, and essential naval operations, as per an official statement.
Additionally, a technology exhibition will be hosted in collaboration with the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) showcasing indigenous cybersecurity and defence technology innovations developed by startups nationwide.
