India's Electronics Hardware Exports Surge Over 30% to $38.5 Billion in 2024-25

New Delhi, March 17 (NationPress) India has witnessed a remarkable surge in its electronics hardware exports for the fiscal year 2024-25, achieving a notable growth of 32.47 percent compared to the previous year, totaling $38.58 billion, as per a report published on Wednesday.
The document from the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) highlighted that exports were valued at $29.12 billion in 2023-24, showcasing a significant rise predominantly fueled by telecom equipment, especially smartphones.
Smartphone exports alone skyrocketed to approximately $24.14 billion in 2024-25, up from $15.57 billion in the preceding year, making it the most substantial segment of India’s electronics hardware export portfolio.
Furthermore, the United States remained the principal market, representing 44 percent of India’s smartphone exports, followed by the United Arab Emirates at 11 percent, the Netherlands at 9 percent, the United Kingdom at 6 percent, and Italy at 5 percent.
Regionally, North America emerged as the largest export destination with shipments valued at $14.70 billion, trailed by Europe at $11.45 billion.
Veer Sagar, Chairman of ESC, noted that initiatives under the Bharat Tech initiative are facilitating Indian companies to penetrate emerging markets like Africa, Latin America, CIS, ASEAN, and SAARC, while also reinforcing their foothold in established regions such as North America and Europe.
Gurmeet Singh, Executive Director at ESC, expressed that the progress in hardware exports has been extraordinary, with telecom equipment, particularly smartphones, driving this growth.
Exports to Russia and CIS countries more than tripled to $1.10 billion, whereas the Middle East accounted for $5.20 billion.
“Shipments to the Far East, Korea, and Japan surged by 48.56 percent to $1.75 billion,” the report stated.
In terms of state contributions, Tamil Nadu topped the list with exports worth $15 billion in 2024-25, followed by Karnataka at $7.85 billion, Uttar Pradesh at $5.30 billion, Maharashtra at $3.60 billion, Gujarat at $2.80 billion, and Delhi at $1 billion.
The report data indicates that India’s electronics manufacturing and export landscape is broadening beyond conventional clusters, with growth now observed across various regions.
