New Delhi, Aug 1 (NationPress) India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has officially launched its Aadhaar-based Face Authentication service for customer transactions across the nation, aimed at enhancing secure and inclusive digital banking.
The face authentication technology, developed by UIDAI, allows users to perform banking transactions through facial recognition, eliminating the need for fingerprints or OTPs, as stated in an official announcement.
This innovative feature simplifies customer verification, particularly benefiting the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
R Viswesvaran, the MD and CEO of IPPB, remarked, “At IPPB, we are committed to making banking not only accessible but also dignified. By implementing Aadhaar-based face authentication, we are ensuring that no customer is disadvantaged due to challenges with biometric fingerprints or OTP verification. The introduction of this feature bolsters IPPB's mission of “Aapka Bank, Aapke Dwaar”, making banking services more accessible, inclusive, and focused on customer needs, as per the statement.
IPPB's facial recognition system offers numerous benefits, including enhanced accessibility for the elderly, differently-abled, and those with worn fingerprints, allowing them to conduct Aadhaar authentication without relying on OTPs or fingerprint scanners.

India Post Payments Bank operates under the Department of Posts and is entirely owned by the Government of India.
