New Delhi, Nov 24 (NationPress) In a pivotal step towards enhancing India's skill development framework and empowering the youth with advanced skills, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State (Independent charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary inaugurated the Skill India Centre (SIC) at Ch. Kehar Singh Divya Public School, located in Baraut, Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

This Centre has been set up by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in partnership with the Redington Foundation. During his address to the audience, Vaishnaw underscored the importance of cultivating a workforce that meets the evolving demands of industries.

He stated, “This initiative in Baraut fortifies the government’s objective of nurturing a technologically proficient workforce capable of bolstering India’s growing digital and electronics sectors.

He elaborated, “The introduction of quality skilling in rural areas ignites aspirations, broadens local opportunities, and accelerates social change.”

“As more learners adopt AI-enabled tools and training, the local workforce is being equipped for the future and relevant job roles,” the minister remarked.

This launch signifies a major enhancement in the accessibility of last-mile skilling for rural youth and women in Uttar Pradesh. Through this endeavor, NSDC and Redington Foundation aim to train approximately 600 candidates—predominantly from underprivileged backgrounds—in the Baraut and Chhaprauli blocks of Baghpat district.

The Baraut centre will act as the main training hub, complemented by a spoke centre in Chhaprauli to increase local accessibility.

The courses offered are tailored to the rapidly evolving electronics and IT-ITeS sectors, aligning with the regional demand for skilled professionals and the national drive towards a d digitally empowered workforce.

During this event, Jayant Chaudhary stressed the critical role of skills in nation-building.

He articulated, “The inauguration of the Skill India Centre in Baraut today exemplifies the government’s dedication to bringing opportunities to every youth, particularly in rural and underserved areas.”

He added, “The Centre will open doors to new possibilities for the youth in the region.”

“Skilling transcends mere employment; it embodies dignity, mobility, and confidence. By establishing centres like this, we are paving the way for local talent to thrive in emerging sectors and significantly contribute to India's growth narrative,” he further added.

During their visit, both ministers engaged with trainees, toured the training labs, and motivated young learners to embrace modern skills that enhance long-term employability.

The positive outcomes of the ongoing collaboration are already evident, with 72 candidates from Baghpat, trained through Redington Foundation’s CSR initiative in collaboration with NSDC, successfully placed in esteemed organizations.

The inauguration of the SIC marks a vital milestone in creating an inclusive skilling ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh, enabling young individuals to acquire industry-relevant skills and progress towards financial independence.
