New Delhi, May 7 (NationPress) The Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, unveiled a specialized non-ferrous metal recycling portal and stakeholders' platform on Wednesday, aiming to foster a structured, transparent, and sustainable recycling ecosystem in India.
This initiative was launched in the presence of Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Mines and JNARDDC.
Notable features include a National registry for dismantlers, recyclers, traders, and collection centers; tools for monitoring raw material flows, product types, technology adoption, and workforce statistics; performance benchmarking systems; identification of regional and sectoral infrastructure and skill gaps; and support for the development of standards, certification protocols, and awareness campaigns.
Created under the guidelines of the National Non-Ferrous Metal Scrap Recycling Framework, this platform is intended to unite key stakeholders, enhance data visibility, and promote evidence-based policymaking in the recycling of aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, and critical elements.
Reddy emphasized, “India is dedicated to creating a circular economy that maximally utilizes its resources. This portal will not only offer real-time insights into the recycling landscape but also empower all stakeholders to make informed choices, address gaps, and realize the full potential of our non-ferrous metal sector.”
Minister of State Satish Chandra Dubey praised the initiative, asserting that “this portal is a crucial step in reinforcing the recycling value chain and boosting industry engagement through transparency and data-driven policy support.”
The website will serve as a national hub for information sharing, awareness creation, and collaboration with recyclers, dismantlers, aggregators, industry associations, and research organizations.
It showcases government initiatives, provides updates on stakeholder meetings and policy changes, and grants access to national statistics, standards, and infrastructure milestones.
The integrated portal also facilitates the registration of industry participants and collects vital data on raw material consumption, recycling capacity, technology usage, and workforce trends — bolstering future interventions in R&D, infrastructure advancement, and skill development.
