Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday declared that Telangana is steadily emerging as a space technology hub, driven by the state's active push to nurture space-focused startups. His remarks came on the occasion of National Space Day, observed annually on 23 August to mark the anniversary of India's historic Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing.

Revanth Reddy's Message to the Space Community

The Chief Minister extended greetings to scientists, engineers, technicians, and support staff who have contributed to India's growing stature in the global space sector. In a social media post, Revanth Reddy credited years of sustained effort and research behind the country's recent milestones.

'With the success of Chandrayaan-3, India has demonstrated its scientific and technological prowess to the world by setting foot in the lunar South Pole region. Behind these triumphs lie years of hard work, dedication, and relentless research. I wholeheartedly congratulate each and every individual who contributed to this great achievement,' he wrote.

Revanth Reddy also urged young people to pursue bold ambitions, saying: 'They must dream big. They should move forward with determination until those dreams are realised. Science is our strength… Innovations are our future… Space must be our next destination.'

Andhra Pradesh Also Marks National Space Day

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Science and Technology Pawan Kalyan also joined the chorus of tributes on National Space Day. The Jana Sena leader highlighted a string of ISRO achievements, including the Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing, the Aditya-L1 solar mission, and the SpaDeX docking demonstrations.

'From a dream in the sky to a landmark on the Moon, Bharat's space journey is a story of vision, courage and scientific excellence,' Pawan Kalyan said, saluting scientists, engineers, and young innovators driving India's space ambitions.

Pawan Kalyan underscored that India's space sector has entered a transformative phase, citing reforms and expanded private-sector participation enabled by bodies such as IN-SPACe. He pointed to Gaganyaan — India's first human spaceflight mission — and the Bharatiya Antariksh Station as the next frontier under Space Vision 2047.

'For Bharat, the sky is not the limit. The universe is the horizon,' he said, adding that greater industry and startup involvement was building a stronger national space ecosystem.

Telangana's Startup Push and the Road Ahead

Hyderabad, Telangana's capital, has historically been a magnet for aerospace and defence companies, and the state government's focus on space startups aligns with the Centre's broader liberalisation of the sector. The establishment of IN-SPACe in 2020 opened the door for private players, and cities like Hyderabad have moved quickly to position themselves as preferred destinations for new-age space ventures.

As India accelerates toward its most ambitious space milestones yet — including a crewed mission and a national space station — the competition among states to anchor the ecosystem is expected to intensify in the months ahead.
