Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Wishes Sonia Gandhi a Happy Birthday

Hyderabad, Dec 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, on Monday offered heartfelt birthday wishes to the esteemed Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on her special day, representing the citizens of Telangana.
During his address in the State Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister acknowledged Sonia Gandhi's 78th birthday and expressed gratitude on behalf of the Assembly and the people of Telangana, who are appreciative of her role in realizing their dream of a separate Telangana State.
Revanth Reddy made this declaration right after the winter session commenced on Monday morning, stating that as the chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), Sonia Gandhi successfully addressed the long-standing aspiration of the Telangana populace that had endured for 60 years.
The Chief Minister highlighted that December 9 holds historical significance for the state, being the date in 2009 when then Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram announced the initiation of the process for establishing Telangana State.
Revanth Reddy referred to Sonia Gandhi as the mother of Telangana who courageously fulfilled her promise to create a separate state, disregarding any potential political repercussions for the Congress party.
Despite facing numerous challenges post the announcement on December 9, 2009, he praised Sonia Gandhi for overcoming these obstacles to honor her commitment.
On December 7, marking one year since his government took office, Revanth Reddy mentioned various initiatives aimed at enhancing the identity of Telangana, including changing the state’s abbreviation from ‘TS’ to ‘TG’ and adopting ‘Jaya Jaya He Telangana’ as the official anthem.
The Chief Minister also revealed that a statue named ‘Telangana Thalli’ (Mother Telangana) has been designed to reflect the rich culture and traditions of the state. “The statue is crafted in a way that evokes memories of our own mothers,” he explained.
He noted that even after a decade since the formation of Telangana State, an official statue of Telangana Thalli was still absent. He elaborated on the features of the statue, which is scheduled to be unveiled at the State Secretariat on Monday evening.
Revanth Reddy declared that from now on, December 9 will be commemorated annually to honor Telangana Thalli and urged everyone to put aside political differences and attend the statue unveiling ceremony.
To showcase unity regarding the state’s identity, the government has invited all, including the opposition leader and former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
Without directly mentioning KCR or the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Revanth Reddy expressed disappointment that a specific individual, family, and party believe that their views represent the entire Telangana society.
BJP member Payal Shankar remarked that while the government is empowered to modify the Telangana Thalli statue, it should have emphasized ‘Bathukamma’, the state festival, in its design.
Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and former Speaker P. Srinivasa Reddy commended the government’s initiative to install the Telangana Thalli statue in the State Secretariat. CPI member K. Sambasiva Rao also wished Sonia Gandhi a happy birthday and expressed gratitude for her role in making Telangana State a reality.
