CM Revanth Reddy Celebrates the Unveiling of ‘Telangana Thalli’ Statue

Hyderabad, Dec 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, unveiled the impressive statue of ‘Telangana Thalli’ (Mother Telangana) on Monday within the premises of the Dr B. R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat.
During the unveiling ceremony, which was marked by the chanting of Vedic hymns performed by priests conducting special rituals, the 17-foot-tall bronze statue was revealed in a vibrant celebration attended by the Chief Minister, his Cabinet colleagues, MPs, state legislators, and other public officials.
A significant number of women from diverse regions of the state participated in this event, which represented the grand finale of the three-day ‘Praja Palana Vijayotsava’, celebrating one year of the Congress government.
In his address at the public gathering held for the occasion, the Chief Minister declared that his administration is revitalizing Telangana by transforming it from a state of crisis to one of welfare and from corruption to development.
He emphasized that December 9 would be remembered as a historic day, asserting that 'Telangana Thalli' had faced discrimination for a decade.
The Chief Minister remarked that various political entities had created numerous versions of the Telangana Thalli statue, but there was no officially recognized design. He asserted that the people's government has officially designated the mother figure as Telangana Thalli.
"The Telangana Thalli statue serves as a source of inspiration as it symbolizes our own mother. The concept of 'mother' is a universal identity across the globe for all individuals. Mother embodies our culture and traditions," the Chief Minister stated, adding that the decision to erect the statue was made after consultations with his Cabinet to meet the people's aspirations.
Revanth Reddy criticized the decades of insult to Telangana culture during the previous united Andhra Pradesh regime. He condemned the ten-year governance of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), alleging that even after the establishment of Telangana, the aspirations of its people were overlooked by one individual and one political party.
He recalled that during the Telangana movement, citizens had inscribed ‘TG’ on their vehicle license plates, but post-formation of the state, the then rulers opted for ‘TS’ as the state abbreviation. He claimed that Congress respected the people's sentiments by reverting to ‘TG’ soon after taking office.
Furthermore, he announced that his government had chosen "Jaya Jaya He Telangana" as the official song, as it inspired many during the Telangana movement, and honored poet and lyricist Andesri for composing the song.
The event concluded with an exhilarating drone performance and a fireworks display.
Earlier in the day, the State government released a notification sanctioning the Telangana Thalli statue and its features. As per the government order, Telangana Thalli stands on a pedestal with clenched fists, symbolizing the determined struggle for a separate state, while her palms face upwards in support of the pedestal. The left hand holds four traditional crops of Telangana—maize, foxtail millet, paddy, and pearl millet—while the right hand signifies a promise of prosperity.
In a statement made in the Assembly earlier, the Chief Minister noted that the design was finalized after deliberations with intellectuals, artists, and experts, asserting that the statue encapsulates the culture and traditions of Telangana.
