Kavitha Deems Telangana Thalli Statue at Secretariat Unacceptable

Hyderabad, Dec 10 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha expressed her disapproval on Tuesday regarding the installation of the Telangana Thalli (Mother Telangana) statue by the Congress-led state government at the Secretariat.
She asserted that the statue, unveiled by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday, represents 'Congress Thalli' rather than 'Telangana Thalli'.
In a display of protest, Kavitha, accompanied by BRS leaders, conducted 'pala abhishekham' and 'panchamrita abhishekham' of the Telangana Thalli at the BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan.
The Member of the Legislative Council criticized the Revanth Reddy administration for excluding 'Bathukamma' from the revised design of the Telangana Thalli and for incorporating the Congress party's hand symbol.
Kavitha emphasized that Bathukamma is a significant state festival and a vital aspect of Telangana's cultural identity, arguing that its removal is an affront to Telangana's essence.
As the daughter of BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, she questioned the government's motives in altering the design of Telangana Thalli, stating that the original design was established by leaders during the Telangana movement.
"The modified statue is not the true Telangana Thalli that inspires the people; instead, it is merely a representation of Congress Thalli," she stated, accusing the Congress party of disrespecting the symbols established during the movement for Telangana's statehood.
Earlier, BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao also labeled the statue installed at the Telangana Secretariat as 'Congress Thalli.' He contended that the statue undermines the cultural and historical identity of Telangana, alleging that the Congress government distorts the legacy of Telangana Thalli for its political advantage.
He pointed out the controversial alterations made to the statue's design, including the exclusion of culturally significant elements like Bathukamma and the crown, while adding the Congress Party's hand symbol, which he deemed an effort to merge Telangana's identity with the party's agenda.
"No one in the world alters the representation of their mother; however, the Congress government in Telangana is attempting to distort the very essence of Telangana Thalli," KTR remarked during a public meeting in Medchal at the unveiling of the statue. He condemned the Congress-installed statue as an insult to those who fought for Telangana's statehood, labeling it a mockery of the state's struggles and aspirations.
KTR warned that once the BRS regains power, the statue will be dismantled and relocated to Gandhi Bhavan.
"Telangana Thalli embodies the collective spirit of the entire Telangana community, not just a single party or individual," KTR asserted, stressing that the Congress government is not only undermining cultural symbols like Bathukamma but also damaging the state's identity.
He called for the performance of milk and 'Panchamrita Abhishekam' at all existing Telangana Thalli statues across the state to reaffirm their significance.
BRS leaders and activists were also encouraged to update their social media profile pictures to images of Telangana Thalli.
BRS has urged the citizens of Telangana to protest against the perceived disrespect shown to their cultural symbols by the Congress government.
