BRS Legislators Detained for Wearing Controversial T-Shirts at Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad, Dec 9 (NationPress) Members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) were apprehended by law enforcement at the state Legislature's entrance on Monday as they attempted to participate in the Assembly session while donning T-shirts with a provocative slogan.

The BRS MLAs and MLCs, led by the party’s Working President, K.T. Rama Rao, were halted by police and Assembly security personnel at the gate due to their attire.

The legislators demanded permission to attend the session, resulting in a dispute between the two parties.

The BRS representatives pointed out that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other Congress MPs wore similar slogans during the previous week's Parliament session.

The BRS legislators shouted slogans targeting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

As tensions escalated, police detained the BRS legislators and transported them away in police vehicles.

Among those detained were Rama Rao, MLC K. Kavitha, and former minister T. Harish Rao.

All detained BRS leaders were released at the party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, where they conducted a protest and voiced slogans against the Congress government.

Previously, the Opposition party's MLAs and MLCs gathered at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial in front of the Assembly building. After paying homage to the martyrs, they proceeded towards the Legislature.

Monday marked the inaugural day of the Winter Session for both Houses of the state Legislature.

K.T. Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for altering the statue of Telangana Thalli (Mother Telangana).

The BRS leader accused the government of removing the Bathukamma from the hands of Telangana Thalli and transforming it into the Congress party’s election symbol, the ‘hand’.

K.T. Rama Rao asserted that the design produced by the government represents the mother of the Congress party, not of Telangana.

The redesigned statue of ‘Telangana Thalli’ is scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the state Secretariat on Monday evening.
