Hyderabad, Dec 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, on Tuesday, inaugurated the statues of Telangana Thalli (Mother Telangana) at every district Collectorate throughout the state.
The unveiling took place virtually from the venue of the Telangana Rising Global Summit at the forthcoming Bharat Future City nearby.
This occasion was part of the Praja Palana (people's governance) festivities, celebrating the second anniversary of the Congress-led government in the state.
As part of the celebrations, the Telangana Thalli statue was erected at a total expense of Rs 5.8 crore across all 33 district Collectorates.
The Chief Minister, alongside Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers, paid floral tributes to the Telangana Thalli statue at the Global Summit venue. The state anthem, 'Jaya Jayahe Telangana', was also performed during the event.
On this special occasion of unveiling the Telangana Thalli statues, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended warm greetings to the citizens of the state.
He reminisced that on December 9, 2009, the previous Congress government, led by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, announced the initiation of the process to form Telangana. This marked the realization of a six-decade-long aspiration for four crore residents of Telangana.
He noted the significance of December 9, prompting the Congress government to commemorate it as 'Telangana Thalli Avatharanotsavam'.
Last year, on this same date, the Telangana Thalli statue was established at the state Secretariat, aiming to inspire a new administrative vision.
He also recalled that in 2004, Sonia Gandhi, during a public assembly in Karimnagar, pledged to meet the aspirations of the Telangana populace, a commitment she upheld against all challenges.
Additionally, December 9 marks Sonia Gandhi's birthday. The Chief Minister affirmed that the state government will persist in its welfare and development initiatives, drawing inspiration from Sonia Gandhi and the foresight of Manmohan Singh.
Earlier, the Chief Minister expressed his greetings to the public on 'X', stating, 'Telangana Thalli is not merely a concept; it embodies the emotions of 4 crore citizens.' He elaborated that the Telangana Thalli represents the unity and strength that guided all societal segments during the prolonged battle for statehood, serving as a maternal figure that invigorates the sense of Telangana identity through the collective endeavors of the populace.
