Adelaide, Oct 23 (NationPress) In a strategic move, Australia has included Alex Carey and Xavier Bartlett in their lineup as captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first against India during the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
Currently, Australia leads the three-match series 1-0 after achieving a seven-wicket win during the rain-impacted first ODI in Perth last Sunday.
Additionally, Australia has reinstated leg-spinner Adam Zampa in place of Matthew Kuhnemann, a change that Marsh overlooked mentioning at the toss.
“The weather caused disruptions in Perth, but our resilience was commendable. There are numerous positives to take from last year. This is one of the premier pitches in the country this year, and everyone enjoys playing here,” he stated.
“We consistently attract fantastic crowds, and I hope both teams can deliver an exceptional performance for the large audience today. Having the chance to clinch the series in game two is a remarkable opportunity. With many young players on our side, I am eager to see how it unfolds,” he added.
India's captain Shubman Gill confirmed that their squad remains unchanged. “It appears to be a good pitch. We would have bowled as well since the surface has been under covers for a couple of days. We anticipate some early assistance but are content to bat first. We hope for favorable weather conditions today with no interruptions,” he stated.
In their pitch analysis, Parthiv Patel and Shane Watson mentioned that the Adelaide Oval is expected to provide a balanced matchup between bat and ball. They also noted that overnight UV treatment was applied to reduce moisture from the pitch.
“We always expect a well-prepared cricket surface here, a solid pitch. There is a slight moisture layer on the top. However, the Adelaide Oval consistently provides an excellent contest between bat and ball, and today should be no exception,” they remarked.
