New Delhi, Feb 6 (NationPress) World Championship boxer Gaurav Bidhuri disclosed on Thursday that he aspired to become a cricketer, but his father Dharmender Bidhuri opposed this ambition.

In an interview with IANS, Gaurav shared that his father, a national-level boxer, was his initial coach. "I used to play cricket a lot and expressed my wish to my father, but he insisted, 'you will be a boxer.'" Consequently, he devoted himself fully to boxing, and when he secured the World Championship bronze medal, both he and his father were emotional.

Gaurav reflected, "I now believe the choice to pursue boxing was correct, but cricket holds a special place in Indian sports culture. Everyone adores it, including myself." He made these comments during the Matri Swar T20 cricket tournament held at the NBA cricket ground.

Furthermore, Gaurav commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the Fit India movement. "More sporting events like this should be organized. Thanks to PM Modi's Fit India initiative, people are engaging more in sports, and such tournaments inspire individuals of all ages."
