Abi Norgrove Set to Lead England at Women’s U19 World Cup

London, Jan 6 (NationPress) Abi Norgrove will take on the role of captain for England at the upcoming ICC Women’s U19 World Cup 2025 in Malaysia, as confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Monday.

The 18-year-old batter, who recently secured her inaugural professional contract with Hampshire, is set to lead the squad at this prestigious tournament commencing on January 18.

A total of sixteen teams from across the globe will compete in this 41-match event spanning 15 days until February 2.

Placed in Group B, England will face Ireland in their first match on January 18, followed by encounters against Pakistan and the USA on January 20 and January 22 respectively, in Johar.

Regarding her captaincy, Norgrove expressed, “I am absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead the squad in the World Cup and honoured to represent my country in such an amazing competition. We can’t wait to get going as a team.”

Chris Guest, the head coach, commented, “We are delighted to have Abi leading the side into the World Cup. She has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities during both the Sri Lanka tour and the preparation phase for the World Cup. Abi has accumulated considerable experience in senior domestic cricket this season, which I’m confident she will leverage in Malaysia.”
